Checking brakes on test stand (Cooper Convertible)
Preliminary work needed:
- Check tire for damage
- Check tire tread
- Check tire pressure
- The brakes must be at normal operating temperature. To that end, warm up and dry off the brake discs by braking the vehicle a few times.
IMPORTANT:
- Only brake test stands with test RPMs of 2.5-6 km/h may be used.
- On vehicles equipped with Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), the system needs to be deactivated!
- The warning light for the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) inside the instrument cluster has to be illuminated!
Front brakes:
- Drive the front wheels of the vehicle onto the brake test stand
- Place the selector lever in selector lever position "N"
- Start the brake test stand
- Press service brake pedal
- Read off maximum brake power on left/right
Rear brakes:
- Drive the rear wheels of the vehicle onto the brake tester
- Place the selector lever in selector lever position "N"
- Start the brake test stand
- Press service brake pedal
- Read off maximum brake power on left/right
Parking brake:
- Drive the rear wheels of the vehicle onto the brake tester
- Place the selector lever in selector lever position "N"
- Start the brake test stand
- Operate parking brake lever and read out maximum brake force left/right
IMPORTANT:
A terminal change needs to be carried out after finishing the checks!
After the terminal change, all indicator lights go out!
