Removing and installing/replacing coolant pump (B48 and B46 engine) (Cooper S and John Cooper Works)
Only perform these tasks on an engine that has cooled down.
Recycling:
Catch and dispose of drained coolant.
Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.
Preliminary work needed:
- Remove ALTERNATOR BRACKET .
Removal:
Unscrew the screws (1).
Remove coolant pump (2) from alternator bracket.
Installation:
Sealing bead (1) is applied to housing of coolant pump.
Installation note:
If the sealing bead (1) protrudes slightly and if the sealing bead (1) is not damaged, the coolant pump can be reinstalled.
If the sealing bead (1) is damaged, remove sealing bead (1) with a suitable tool and replace with SEALING COMPOUND 2.2 (Loctite 5970).
Sealant height approximately 2 to 2.5 mm.
Position coolant pump (2) at alternator bracket.
Tighten down screws (1).
Tightening torque 11 51 1AZ .
Required follow-up work:
- Install ALTERNATOR BRACKET .
- Assemble engine
- Check engine for leak tightness
