Checking cylinder head for watertightness (B48 and B46 engine) (Cooper S and John Cooper Works)

Special tools required: 

• 2 361 215

Preliminary work needed: 

• Remove CYLINDER HEAD .
• ALL HYDRAULIC VALVE CLEARANCE COMPENSATING ELEMENTS .
• Remove ECCENTRIC SHAFT .

Unscrew nuts (1).

Tightening torque 11 62 1AZ .

Remove trim strip (2).

2 361 215 Position and fasten cylinder head (1) on special tool.

Disassemble connecting bracket (1).

Attach special tool 2 361 215 to cylinder head and secure.

Required follow-up work: 

• Remove all special tools
• Install all HYDRAULIC VALVE CLEARANCE COMPENSATING ELEMENTS .
• Install ECCENTRIC SHAFT .
• Install the CYLINDER HEAD .
• Assemble engine
