Replace B-Pillar With Reinforcement, Left (Rear Quarter Panel Removed) (Cooper, Cooper S, John Cooper Works)

Observe procedure for REPAIR STAGE 3 .

Spot-weld bonding is used on this vehicle. Observe specific PROCEDURE .

Use only approved SPOT WELDER for repair

For stripping and rebuilding operations, see the surrounding texts on KSD CD (FRU number 41 21 670).

Place vehicle on straightening bench.

Following new body parts are required (see Electronic Parts Catalog):

Removal

Open welded connections in areas (1).

LOOSEN spot-welded adhesive joints in areas (2).

Remove B-pillar reinforcement.

New part preparation

Remove unnecessary components from new part.

Remove adhesive residues completely from flange surface on the vehicle.

Prepare new part for joining by welding.

Adjust the new part with an alignment bracket or universal fixture and in conjunction with the side panel.

NOTE: When adjusting the new part, the side panel thickness must be taken into consideration depending on straightening system manufacturer

Installation

Install new part with alignment bracket or universal fixture and secure using gripping pliers.

NOTE: The installation of the new part must take the side panel thickness into consideration depending on the alignment system manufacturer.

Weld new part in the areas (1) and (2).
