Replacing hall effect sensors on roof crossbar (Cooper Convertible)
Preliminary work needed:
- Remove SIDE TRIM PANELS
- Remove GASKETS
Open folding sunroof a few centimeters to relieve tension on soft top cover.
Detach cover (1) towards rear.
Detach soft top cover (1) from front strut (2).
Installation note:
Replace double-sided adhesive tape.
Unclip front plastic detents (1) in marked area.
If necessary, remove soft top cover (2) from front strut (front) in arrow direction.
Detach tension cable (1) at side from roof frame.
Installation note:
Secure tension cable (1) to front strut with insulating tape.
Unscrew left and right nuts (1).
Unlock retaining lug (2) on both sides.
Disengage wire bow (1) on both sides.
Carefully release clamps in marked area (2).
Carefully release soft top cover from crossbar.
Installation note:
Replace double-sided adhesive tape.
Remove screw (1).
Remove Hall effect sensor (2).
Raise cover.
Remove screw (1).
Remove Hall effect sensor (2).
Disconnect plug connection (1) from roof crossbar.
Disconnect plug connection (1).
Remove hall effect sensors with feed line.
Installation note:
Perform FUNCTIONAL CHECK and look out for folds in and tensioning of soft top cover.
Check safety catches.
With new soft top cover, the force of the mechanism may not be sufficient to fully close the safety catches.
Open convertible top brace and close folding sunroof.
Lock convertible top brace.
Soft top cover is stretched and after settling the safety catches are correctly locked again.
