Removing and installing/replacing drive unit for tailgate lock (Cooper Convertible)

Preliminary work needed: 

• Remove tailgate TRIM PANEL .

Removal: 

Unscrew nuts (1).

Turn drive unit for lift gate latches (2) upwards.

Slacken nut (1).

Take out cover for theft protection (2) from the guide (3).

Disconnect plug connection (1) on controller drive.

Unclip Bowden cables (2).

Remove engine of lift gate latch (3).

Installation: 

Install engine of lift gate latch (3).

Clip in Bowden cables (2).

Connect plug connection (1) on controller drive.

Insert cover for theft protection (2) into the guide (3).

Tighten nut (1).

Install engine of lift gate latch (2).

Tighten down nuts (1).

Tightening torque 51 24 7AZ .

Required follow-up work: 

• Install the tailgate TRIM PANEL .
