Removing And Installing Cross Connection (Cooper, Cooper S, John Cooper Works): Overview

Necessary preliminary work 

• Remove INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .

Removal 

Release screws (1) and (2).

Release clamps (3) for the Bowden cable for the hood latch.

Unscrew the screws (1).

Lift out expanding rivet (2).

Undo screws (1) and remove cross connection (2).

Installation 

Install cross connection. Fit all screws.

Note PROCEDURE FOR FRONT PANEL INSTALLATION .

Tighten screw (1).

Tightening torque 41 33 1AZ .

Tighten down screws (2).

Tightening torque 51 11 1AZ .

Secure the clamps (3) for the Bowden cable of the hood lock on the cross connection.

Tighten down screws (1).

Tightening torque 41 33 2AZ .

Tighten down screws (1).

Tightening torque 41 33 2AZ .

Attach expanding rivet (2).

Installed on the right side only on vehicles with production date as of: 12/2016 

Secure the spray guard (1) on the cross connection (2) as illustrated.

Secure the spray guard (1) on the lock bridge with the retaining tabs (3).

Properly mount spray guard (1) to prevent corrosion.
