Removing And Installing The Fuel Filler Flap (Cooper, Cooper S, John Cooper Works)

Removal: 

MINI ONE and MINI COOPER versions: 

Open fuel filler flap.

Use a suitable tool to lift the detent out toward the front in arrow direction.

Detach fuel filler flap (1) in arrow direction.

MINI Cooper S: 

Open fuel filler flap.

Lift out lock (1), turn fuel filler flap (2) in the direction of the arrow and remove.

Installation: 

MINI ONE and MINI COOPER versions: 

The detents (1) must not be damaged.

If the detent is damaged, the COVER HOUSING  must be replaced.

Open hinge arm.

Place the fuel filler flap (1) on the hinge arm and push in the arrow direction until the locking mechanism engages.

MINI Cooper S: 

The detent (1) must not be damaged.

If the detent is damaged, replace the cover housing.

Open hinge arm.

Place the fuel filler flap (1) on the hinge arm and turn in the arrow direction until the locking mechanism engages.
