Removing And Installing/Replacing The Hood Hinge (Hood Removed) (Active Pedestrian Protection) (Cooper, Cooper S, John Cooper Works)

WARNING: Injury hazard!
Adhere to the following safety instructions so as to avoid a injury hazard by the actuator
The battery ground lead must be clamped off prior to work on the hinge or engine compartment lid!

For stripping and rebuilding operations, refer to surrounding texts on KSD (FRU number 41 61 571).

Necessary preliminary work

Disconnect cable from battery earth lead
Remove ACTUATOR (active pedestrian protection)

Removal

Remove water drain channel (1).

Release screws (1) and remove hinge.

Installation

Install hinge and tighten screws (1).

Tightening torque 41 61 2AZ .

Install the water drain channel (1).

Required follow-up work:

Install the ACTUATOR (active pedestrian protection)
Connect battery ground lead
ADJUST hinge together with engine compartment lid
