51 44 013 Removing and installing (replacing) headlining (with panorama glass roof)

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove the FRONT PASSENGER DOOR
• Remove TRIM PANEL FOR ROOF PILLAR  at front (A-pillar) left/right
• Remove all SUN VISORS AND COUNTER-SUPPORTS 
• Remove ROOF OPERATING FACILITY
• Remove INSIDE MIRROR 
• Remove the FRONT/REAR HEADLINING TRIM 
• Remove the HANDLE for the selector lever and/or GEARSHIFT LEVER KNOB
• Remove the front DRINK HOLDER 
• Remove front/rear grab handles. See REMOVING/INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR GRAB HANDLES  and REMOVING/INSTALLING/REPLACING FRONT GRAB HANDLE .
• Remove INTERIOR ROOF LIGHT
• Remove TRIM PANEL FOR ROOF PILLAR  at rear (C-pillar) left/right
• Remove the SIDE TRIM PANEL  on the driver's side
• Remove FRONT SEAT on the driver's side
• Remove the HEAD RESTRAINT for the front passenger seat.
• Release edge protection in area of headlining
• Move the gearshift lever to the "R" position and/or move the selector lever completely to the front.
• Move the front passenger seat completely back/down.
• Fold the passenger's side rear seat down

Release expansion rivet (1).

Lay headlining (2) downwards.

When feeding out the roofliner (1), make sure that they are not kinked.

Dismantling sequence: 

• Place the roofliner toward the front onto the dashboard
• Route the roofliner to the rear and tilt at the same time.
• Move the roofliner to the rear until it is placed askew in the vehicle (see illustration)

Guide the roofliner (1) between the gearshift lever (2) and the front passenger seat and remove it toward the front passenger's side.

Replacement: 

Depending on the version, the apertures below must be cut out afterwards.

1. Aperture for seat belt
2. Aperture for load area net mounting on left/right
3. Aperture for light
4. Aperture for handle/sun visor

For apertures (4) only cut out the rectangular part, angled moldings (5) are not  to be cut.

On replacement with microphone version: 

Cut out apertures for the microphone along the moldings.

Bond holder (1) on headlining.

Installation sequence: 

1. Secure headlining with edge protection
2. Engage retaining clips front/rear
3. Feed in rubber grommet of inside mirror wiring harness
4. Tighten the grab handles
5. Screw down sun visors and counter supports
6. Add final details to vehicle
