Section 163 (Suspension - Front - Cooper (R50), Cooper S (R53) & Convertible (R52)): Description

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2008 MINI Cooper, 2007 MINI Cooper, 2006 MINI Cooper, 2005 MINI Cooper, and 2004 MINI Cooper. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

All Cooper models use MacPherson strut front suspension systems, which consist of vertically mounted strut assemblies directly attached to steering knuckles. The front suspension design features anti-dive and anti-squat geometry via the anti-roll bar and 1:1 strut movement ratio. The layout of the design minimizes camber loss due to side forces, thus improving handling and steering response.
