41 31 010 Outer Roof Skin Replacement (Version With Slide/Tilt Sunroof)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove and install roofliner . See 51 44 011 REMOVING AND INSTALLING / REPLACING HEADLINER (WITH SLIDE/TILT SUNROOF) .
Remove and install windshield . See 51 31 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING / REPLACING WINDSCREEN .
Remove and install rear window . See 51 31 200 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR WINDOW .
Remove and install sunroof . See 54 12 211 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COMPLETE GLASS SLIDE/TILT SUNROOF (FRAME) .

Following new body parts are required:

(1) Roof outer skin, slide/tilt sunroof

Open weld spots in area (1).

Open laser weld seams in area (2).

IMPORTANT: Observe special procedure when opening laser weld seams . See 41 00... OPENING WELD JOINTS .

Release adhesive areas (layout, see next operation) and remove roof outer skin.

Installation:

Fit new part on body. Fit windshield for positioning.

Laser weld seams are replaced by plug welds.

Seal weld seams with sealing compound.

Apply sealing compound in marked areas.
