51 42 000 Remove and install left or right rear door trim panel

Special tools required: 

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

IMPORTANT: Adhere to the correct sequence without fail, otherwise the door trim panel will break.
Do not under any circumstances pull on map pocket.

Completely extend roller sunblind (1).

Release pushrod (3) from lifting gear and guide clip (2) with a 90°degree rotation. (see Fig 2)

Remove guide bracket (2).

Retract roller sunblind (1).

Remove pushrod (1) in direction of arrow.

  1. Locked
  2. Released

Installation note: 

Check pushrod (1) for latching possibility in lifting gear.

Replace lifting gear if necessary.

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque 51 42 1AZ .

Starting in B-pillar area, unclip shoulder with special tool 00 9 321 from clamps (1).

Unclip clamp (1) with special tool 00 9 321 .

Unclip clips (1) in direction of arrow by gripping with hand.

Increased effort for double clip (2).

IMPORTANT: Grasp shoulder (1) and trim panel (2) in region of C-pillar with both hands (risk of damage).

IMPORTANT: Center clamp (1) twist knob (2) separation only possible by shifting.

IMPORTANT: Grasp door trim panel on shoulder (1) and under map pocket (2) and remove in direction of arrow.

Disengage Bowden cable (1) for release lever first at counter support (2) and then at door lock (3).

Unlock and disconnect all plug connections, then remove door trim panel.

Installation note: 

Faulty clips (1) color: grey.

Check center clamp (2) for damage, replace if necessary.

Installation note: 

Make sure Bowden cable (1) is in correct position!

Feed in Bowden cable (1) in area (A) correctly into door trim panel.

An incorrectly routed Bowden cable can cause door lock malfunctions.

Fit door trim panel, make sure clamps are correctly seated and press down in sequence A - D.

Installation note: 

After assembling the door trim panel proceed as follows:
