51 45 050 Removing and installing/replacing instrument panel upper section trim

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Disconnect BATTERY EARTH LEAD
• Remove COVER FOR INSTRUMENTS 
• Remove AIR OUTLET VENT COVERS  on left and right
• Remove CD CHANGER/STORAGE COMPARTMENT
• Remove SOLAR SENSOR

Release screws (1).

Release screws (1).

Unfasten screws (2).

Tightening torque 72 12 7AZ .

Disconnect plug connection (3).

Raise instrument panel upper section and feed out cable for solar sensor.

Installation note: 

Feed in cable for solar sensor:

• Lay instrument panel upper section on lower section.
• Raise instrument panel upper section at rear.
• Insert cable for solar sensor through opening in instrument panel upper section.

Installation note: 

Insert centering pins of instrument panel upper section correctly into locators (1).
