54 34 400 Removing and installing/replacing wiring harness section for soft top (with microswitch)

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

WARNING: For all repair work, secure soft top with a suitable support tool against collapsing.
Ensure soft top is supported in the middle.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Release screws (1).

Installation note:

Renew screws (1) or wet with Loctite.

Remove middle left linkage cover (2) of guide rail.

Overview, microswitches:

Microswitch, front soft top bow.
Senses the slightly raised position of the front soft top bow.
Microswitch, soft top open.
Senses the completely erected position of the left main pillar.
Microswitch, soft top closed.

Senses the stowed (opened) position of the soft top.

Release screws on microswitch, front soft top bow (1).

Tightening torque 54 34 14AZ .

Cut open cable strap (2).

Release screws on microswitch, soft top open (3).

Tightening torque 54 34 14AZ .

Cut open cable strap (4).

Unlock plug connection (5) and disconnect.

Release screws on microswitch, soft top closed (6).

Tightening torque 54 34 14AZ .

Installation note:

Replace cable straps.

Make sure wiring harness is laid without abrasions.

Run a function check.
