41 21 682 Replacing left B-pillar reinforcement (rear side panel removed)

Procedure OBSERVE repair stage 3!

Read contents of BODY, GENERAL .

Spot-weld bonding is used on this vehicle. Observe specific PROCEDURE .

Use only approved SPOT-WELDING APPARATUS for repairs.

Place vehicle on straightening bench.

Following new body parts are required:

Removing the B-pillar reinforcement

Mark severance cut in accordance with dimension and cut.

IMPORTANT: Only sever outer panel at severance cut.

Dimension a = approx. 45 mm before Ø 12 x 18 mm elongated hole.

Remove cavity sealing (1).

Open welded connections in areas (2).

OPEN bonded connection in area (1).

Open spot-welded adhesive joints in areas (1).

Remove entrance with bulkheads (2).

New part preparation

Mark severance cut on new part as per severance cut on the vehicle and disconnect.

Prepare REINFORCEMENT PLATE at severance cut.

Adjust new part to fit with set of attachments or universal mount.

Installation of B-pillar reinforcement:

Install new parts with alignment bracket or universal mount and weld.
