72 12 000 Removing And Installing/Replacing Airbag Module On Passenger Side

WARNING:

OBSERVE  safety regulations for handling airbag modules and pyrotechnical seatbelt tensioners.

Incorrect handling can activate airbag and cause injury.

Follow instructions for disconnecting and connecting battery!

Disconnect battery negative lead.

Remove glovebox. See REMOVING AND INSTALLING RIGHT GLOVEBOX WITH HOUSING or REMOVING AND INSTALLING RIGHT GLOVEBOX (WITH ACTIVE KNEE PROTECTOR) WITH HOUSING

Version with CD changer: 

REMOVE CD changer.

Unfasten plug connection (3) and disconnect.

Release screws (4).

Lay retaining clip (2) slightly to one side.

IMPORTANT:

Airbag module (1) could fall out after screws (5) have been released. Grip airbag module (1).

Release screws (5) and carefully remove airbag module (1).

Installation: 

When inserting airbag module (4) in channel (3), make sure channel (3) rests all round airbag module (4). If necessary, pull channel (3) apart at sides.

Replace screws (1).

Retainers (2) fall out during removal and do not  have to be replaced.

Tightening torque: 72 12 02AZ  . See AIRBAG MODULES for specs.
