63 12 870 Replacing ignition unit for xenon headlight (with xenon bulb)

WARNING: Version with xenon headlights: Danger to life due to high voltage! Therefore, before removing, disconnect all components from the voltage supply (lighting system and ignition off).
Work on the entire xenon lighting system (control unit, ignition unit with bulb) may only be carried out by qualified personnel.
Follow instructions for HANDLING LIGHT BULBS (EXTERIOR LIGHTS) .
IMPORTANT: Ignition unit and xenon bulb are viewed as a single component and must not be separated.

Before replacing the ignition unit with the xenon bulb the power permitted for the relative type of headlight needs to be checked! 

An exterior distinguishing feature are burls (1) on the lens (2) of the retrofit xenon headlight Retrofit xenon headlights are equipped with xenon bulb D5S 12V 25W (LWR and SRA not prescribed).

Retrofit xenon headlights are equipped with xenon bulb D5S 12V 25W (A) (LWR and SRA not prescribed).

Standard xenon headlights are equipped with xenon bulb D1/D1S 12V 35W (B) (LWR and SRA prescribed).

Unlock retaining tab (1) and remove protective cap (2) from headlight.

Installation note: 

Protective cap (2) must be correctly engaged.

Check seal.

Replace protective cap (2) if necessary.

Comply with INSTRUCTIONS FOR REPLACING THE PROTECTIVE CAP .

Unlock wire spring clips (1).

Disconnect plug connection (2).

Remove ignition unit for xenon headlight (3) from headlight.

Installation note: 

Make sure ignition unit (3) is exactly seated in headlight.

Recommendation:

Check HEADLIGHT ADJUSTMENT , correct if necessary.
