12 62 500 Replacing coolant temperature sensor (N16)
WARNING:
Risk of scalding!
Only carry out repair work on the cooling system after the engine has cooled down!
Only carry out repair work on the cooling system after the engine has cooled down!
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Read out fault code memory of the DME control unit.
- Check stored fault messages
- Switch off ignition
Installation location:
At cylinder head, left.
Coolant can escape during change of the coolant temperature sensor. Catch and dispose of coolant.
Release screw.
Pull intake silencer (1) upwards and disconnect from clean air pipe (2).
Pull off intake silencer (1) from air filter housing and remove.
Remove clean air pipe.
If necessary, unlock and pull off connector and wiring.
Carefully pull cable channel (1) upwards.
Unlock connector (1) and remove.
Pull off lock (2) and remove coolant temperature sensor (3).
Installation note:
- Replace sealing ring
- IF NECESSARY, TOP UP COOLANT .
- CHECK COOLING SYSTEM FOR WATER LEAKS
NOTE:
Clear diagnostic fault entries from fault memory.
