41 62 014 Adjusting Tailgate: Notes

Read contents of BODY, GENERAL 

Observe 41 00... BODY GAP DIMENSIONS .

The tailgate must be provided with all attachment parts for correct adjustment.

Version with automatic tailgate actuation: 

Shut down automatic luggage compartment lid actuation.

To do this, disconnect plug connection on SEATS - REPAIR -- 535XI_550XI control unit for automatic luggage compartment lid actuation.

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove TAILGATE COVER , top
• Remove covers for water gutter

Slacken screws (2) on rear lid hinge to rear lid until such stage that rear lid can still be moved.

Tightening torque 41 62 1AZ .

Adjust tailgate laterally and longitudinally.

Height adjustment of rear lid to roof:

Slacken screws (1) and adjust tailgate.

Tightening torque 41 62 2AZ .

Check read lid wedge (1) on left and right for damage, replace if necessary.

Check tailgate stop (1) on body on left and right for damage, replace if necessary.

If necessary, adjust tailgate stop (1) to wedge.

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Remove TRIM PANEL at bottom left.

Slacken screw (2).

Slacken nuts (3).

Adjust limit position in longitudinal direction.

Tightening torque 41 62 6AZ .

Adjusting height of tailgate in relation to side panel:

Adjust limit position (1) by turning screw (2).

After Installation note 

• Tighten all screws and nuts to specified torque.
• Touch up unpainted surfaces in the appropriate color.
• If necessary, adjust REAR LID CATCH .
• If reversing camera optional equipment installed: 

  Calibrate REVERSING CAMERA .
