Front Hub

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2008 MINI Cooper, 2007 MINI Cooper, 2006 MINI Cooper, 2005 MINI Cooper, and 2004 MINI Cooper. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The front hub is a unitary construction with the wheel flange. The flange acts as the outer race of the outer bearing and is machined to take the outer race of the inner bearing. This hub bearing is of the ball type. The drive shaft is located onto the wheel bearings with multisplines, and retained by a lock nut. The tightening of the nut provides the correct amount of pre-load on the wheel bearings.
