51 16 060 Removing and installing or replacing interior rearview mirror

Disconnect negative lead from BATTERY .

Move mirror (1) into position illustrated. Then turn carefully through 45° to left to disengage mirror base plate from mirror base.

NOTE: Pay attention to wiring harness on mirror base plate.

Turn mirror (1) through 180°, disengage mirror base plate cover shells (2) first at bottom... then at top, and remove.

If necessary, reposition mirror (1) in relation to mirror base plate (3).

Installation:

Make sure mirror base plate cover shells (2) are correctly seated.

Pull plug connection (1) out of mirror base plate (2)...

... and disconnect plug connections (1)

Only replace with version with remote control for central locking:

Initialize all transmitters (ignition keys), refer to vehicle owner's handbook.
