Drive Axle Shaft (Right): Installation

Replace collar nut. Secure collar nut after tightening by peening on flat area. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Replace self-locking nut. Replace self-locking nuts. Replace circlip. See Figure . Position Special Tool (284 120) on shaft seal as shown. See Fig 1 . Ensure tool fits over the sealing ring lip so sealing ring is protected when drive shaft is inserted. Make sure the tool is properly guided over the sealing ring lip. Insert drive shaft in seal as shown and remove Special Tool (248 120) by pulling handle. See Fig 2 . Push drive shaft over resistance of snap ring. The drive shaft must snap audibly into place. Add transmission oil and check for leaks.
