41 11 300 Replacing Cover For Longitudinal Member With Left Or Right Door Pillar (Partial Replacement B-Pillar, Rear Side Panel Removed)

Refer to relevant service information in BODY, GENERAL .

Remove or cover those vehicle components in the repair area which are susceptible to heat or dust.

Use only approved SPOT-WELDING APPARATUS  for repairs.

Place vehicle on straightening bench.

The following new body parts are required:

Mark cutting lines according to specified dimensions and cut.

Cut outer plate only for following severance cuts.

Dimension a = approx. 120 mm after elongated hole dia. 12 x 18 mm.

Dimension c = 280 mm from roof edge.

Dimension d = 80 mm below severance cut c.

Cut profile section completely for following severance cut.

Dimension b = 150 mm before elongated hole dia. 18 x 24 mm.

Installation: 

Stick on cavity acoustic  baffle (1).

In area (2) replace cavity acoustic baffle  with cavity foam.

Mark cutting lines according to specified dimensions and cut.

Cut outer metal plate only for following severance cut.

Dimension a = 80 mm before elongated hole dia. 18 x 24 mm.

At cutting line (1) remove cavity acoustic baffle and remove profile section completely.

Open weld joints in areas (1).

View from vehicle interior:

Open weld joints in areas (1).

Remove side member cover.

Mark new part in accordance with severance cuts on vehicle and cut.

Only cut outer metal plate on all severance cuts.

Severance cuts (3) and (4) are offset to each other.

Make severance cut (4) from rear side.

Installation: 

Cut-out sheet section (2) is still needed.

Preparation of new part: 

Mark new part in accordance with severance cut (1) on car and cut.

Installation: 

Weld in reinforcing panels  at all severance cuts.

Adjust new part to fit with straightening attachment or universal mount.
