33 32 076 Removing and installing/replacing top left (or right) control arm

NOTE:
If the control arm is detached from the rear axle carrier, it is necessary after reinstallation to carry out a wheel/chassis alignment check.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove rear WHEEL
- If necessary, remove spare wheel
- Remove underbody panelling . See 51 47... REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR LEFT OR RIGHT UNDERBODY PANELLING .
- Only on right side: Remove heat shield (on COOPER S on left and right)
Only on left side at ride-height sensor: Release screws (1) for bracket on control arm.
Installation:
Tightening torque 37 14 5AZ.
Release nut and remove screw (2).
Installation:
Replace self-locking nut.
Tighten bolt connection in normal position.
Tightening torque 33 32 1AZ.
Unscrew nut (3).
Remove screw and then remove control arm.
Installation:
Replace self-locking nut.
Tighten bolt connection in normal position .
Tightening torque 33 32 3AZ.
Replacement:
- Modify stop buffer
After installation:
- Perform chassis alignment check . See 32 00 150 KDS CHASSIS/WHEEL ALIGNMENT CHECK WITH LOAD UP TO DESIGN POSITION or 32 00 155 KDS CHASSIS/WHEEL ALIGNMENT CHECK WITH RIDE-HEIGHT MEASUREMENT WITHOUT LOAD .
