51 24 090 Removing and installing/replacing left or right rear lid lock

NOTE: The operation is described on the left side; proceed in the same way for the right side.

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Unscrew nuts (1).

Installation: 

Tightening torque 51 24 12AZ .

Turn drive unit for rear lid lock (2) upwards.

Installation: 

Make sure drive unit for rear lid lock (2) is correctly seated.

Slacken nut (1).

Feed out thief proofing cover (2) in direction of arrow from guide (3).

Detach Bowden cable (2) from lock reversing lever. Then lever out guide (1) for Bowden cable on counter support in direction of arrow.

Installation: 

Retaining tabs and guide on Bowden cable (2) must not be damaged.

Release cable connector (1) on plug connection (2) on left or Bowden cable (3) on right.

Installation: 

Replace cable connector (1).

Left side only: 

Disconnect plug connection (2).

Release screws (4) on rear lid lock (5) and feed out rear lid lock including Bowden cable.

Installation: 

Tightening torque 51 24 3AZ .

Installation: 

Perform function check with rear lid open.
