Manual transmissions only

Press vibration damper (1), if fitted, off output shaft (2) with press.

Vibration damper must not be reused.

Replace vibration damper -> Refer to subsequent procedure.

The new vibration damper must be fitted, even if a vibration damper was not previously mounted on the shaft!

Press back vibration damper up to shaft shoulder (1) on inner joint (see following work step).

Pressing on vibration damper: 

Coat vibration damper and output shaft with Tip Top tire mounting paste (BMW part no. 81 22 9 407 288).

Grip output shaft in vice (aluminum jaws) and push vibration damper (1) by hand onto output shaft.
