18 40 040 Removing and installing/replacing exhaust manifold (N12)

WARNING: Scalding hazard!
Only perform these tasks after exhaust system has cooled down.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

NOTE: The oxygen sensors are in danger of being damaged when the exhaust manifolds are removed and installed.

Release screws and remove upper heat shield (1).

Tightening torque 18 40 4AZ.

Release screws and remove lower heat shield (1).

Tightening torque 18 40 4AZ. .

Unfasten screws.

Tightening torque 19 N.m.

Unfasten clamp. Tightening torque 25 Nm.

Release nuts and remove exhaust manifold (1).

Installation:

Replace seal and nuts.
Clean sealing surfaces.
Apply a thin coat of copper paste to thread.
Tightening torque 25 N.m
