41 31... Additional bore holes for roof rails in roof outer skin

Observe procedure for REPAIR STAGE 1 

When replacing the roof outer skin, the installation holes for the roof rails must be drilled additionally.

Adjust roof outer skin to fit and secure.

Drill 5 holes per side from below through roof outer skin.

Diameter of bore holes 6 mm.

If possible, drill bore holes through center of recesses (1) in convertible top bow (2).

Check whether bore holes are centrally located above recesses in convertible top bows. Rework if necessary.

Fit roof rails on roof outer skin.

Check whether all threaded bolts of roof rails match to bore holes.

If necessary, slightly rework bore holes until all 5 threaded bolts fit through roof outer skin.

Mark diameter for enlargement of bore holes (1).

Remove roof rails.

Enlarge bore holes according to mark (1).

Diameter of bore holes:

NOTE:

If the diameter of the bore hole is too small, this can lead to squeaking noise.

If the diameter is too large, this leads to leaks!

Place roof rails on roof outer skin for checking purposes.

Deburr holes.
