41 32 000 Replacing left or right cowl panel (partial replacement before roof connection)

Refer to relevant service information in BODY, GENERAL .

Remove or cover those vehicle components in the repair area which are susceptible to heat or dust.

Use only approved SPOT-WELDING APPARATUS for repairs.

NOTE: Picture shows R56.

The following new body parts are required:

CAUTION: Cut outer plate only for following severance cuts.
Water drain pipe of panorama roof is located behind severance cuts a and b.

Mark severance cut in accordance with dimension and cut.

Dimension a = 60 mm below bore dia. 8 mm.

Dimension b = 50 mm above bore dia. 8 mm.

Open weld joints in areas (1).

IMPORTANT: Remove cavity acoustic baffle under cut (1) through opening in cowl panel.

Installation:

Mark new part in accordance with severance cuts above and cut.

Weld in REINFORCEMENT PLATES at severance cuts.

Installation:

Apply CAVITY FOAM through bore hole (1) in inner A-pillar.
