65 77 730 Removing and installing (replacing) vehicle center sensor

Incorrect handling can activate AIRBAG and cause injury.

NOTE: Follow instructions for handling optical fibers. Refer to 61 00... NOTES ON HANDLING OPTICAL FIBERS .

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Disconnect battery negative lead and cover. Refer to 12 00 ... INSTRUCTIONS FOR DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY .
Remove center armrest. Refer to 51 16 195 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CENTRE ARMREST (FRONT) .

Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.

Release screws (2) and remove vehicle center sensor (3).

Installation:

Tightening torque 65 77 6AZ. Refer to AUDIO, NAVIGATION AND ANTI-THEFT - TIGHTENING TORQUES - 745I - E65 .

Make sure sensor is mounted without play.

Replacement:

Carry out coding/programming.

Observe following IDC specifications:
