51 24 050 Removing and installing/replacing lock element (lock cylinder) for rear lid (up to 03/2005)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove rear centre trim, refer to 51 13 400 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR CENTRE TRIM (UP TO 03/2005)

Detach cover (1) from lock element (2).

Disconnect Bowden cable (3) from element (4).

Installation:

Retainer (5) must be correctly fitted.

Version with manual unlocking:

Release screw (1).

Slide Bowden cable with holder (2) to one side.

Release screw (1).

Unscrew lock element (2) in direction of arrow from rear lid (3).

Installation:

Perform function check with rear lid open.

Installation:

Following parts of lock element (5) must not be damaged or missing:

Foam
Bowden cable mounting
Retainer
Cap
