54 12 004 Adjusting sun roof: Notes

Follow procedure precisely because otherwise mechanism (guide) on slide/tilt sunroof cassette can be damaged. It then has to be replaced.

Ideal adjustment:

Gaps (A) between sunroof and front and back of roof of equal size.

Height:

Front - flush to 1 mm deeper

Rear - flush to 1 mm higher

Initializing slide/tilt sunroof, refer to 54 0 ... NOTES ON STEEL AND GLASS SLIDE/TILT SUNROOFS (INITIALIZATION/NORMALIZATION/LEARNING OF CHARACTERISTIC CURVE) 

Closing slide/tilt sunroof lid (zero setting).

Press button to open roof briefly (1) then stop again (2) (inching function).

The slide/tilt sunroof lid must now lower at back by dimension (A).

(A) = 2 ... 4 mm

Slowly slide floating roof liner right back (with clean hands, or wearing protective gloves).

Closing slide/tilt sunroof lid (zero setting).

Rear adjustment:

Unfasten nut (2) and replace.

Slide in adjusting wedges (1) on left and right until ideal setting is reached.

Press slide/tilt sunroof lid forwards, then tighten the outer nut (2) first of all.

Tightening torque, see 54 12 2AZ in SLIDE/TILT ROOF AND CONVERTIBLE TOP - TIGHTNENING TORQUES .

Front adjustment:

Loosen left/ right screws (1).

Push slide/tilt sunroof lid upwards or downwards until ideal setting is reached.

Tighten screws (1).
