13 54 030 Removing and installing/sealing throttle body (M60, M62)

Ignition switched off.

Version 1: 

(Acoustic cover screwed down)

Remove seal caps (1) and unfasten nuts (2).

Remove acoustic cover.

Version 2: 

(Acoustic cover with press-stud fastener)

Press press-stud fasteners (1...4) in succession and at same time raise acoustic cover slightly. Remove acoustic cover once all four press-stud fasteners have been unlocked.

Cars with idle-speed control valves only: 

Disconnect plug connection on idle control valve and on throttle valve potentiometer.

Open clips (1).

If fitted, release hose clamp (2) and disconnect hose.

Disconnect plug-in connection (3).

M62: Disconnect plug connection on intake air temperature sensor.

Unfasten hose clips (1) and (2), and remove suction hoses with top section of air filter housing.

Remove accelerator cables (1) and (2).

  1. Accelerator cable
  2. Cruise control cable

Installation 

  1. Adjust cable for accelerator pedal (1) free of play.
  2. Adjust cable for cruise control (2) with 1-2 mm of play.

Remove vacuum hose from throttle body.

Unfasten screws (1) to (6) and remove throttle valve neck.

Installation 

  1. Replace seal.

Installation 

  1. Fit brackets (1) and (2).

Cars without idle-speed control valves only: 

Remove connector (1).

Disconnect vacuum lines (4).

Remove intake pipe (3) with air cleaner housing upper section (2).

Remove connector (1).

If necessary, remove any remnants of sealing ring (3).

Unfasten screws (2).

Take off throttle-valve assembly.

Check O-ring (1) of throttle body (2) for damage and replace if necessary.
