12 14 600 Replacing knock sensor

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Switch off ignition
Read out fault memory of DME control unit
Check stored fault messages

NOTE: Remove exhaust turbocharger. Refer to 11 65 035 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING SUPERCHARGER .

Unlock and disconnect knock sensor plug connection.

Release knock sensor screw, remove knock sensor (1).

Installation:

Clean contact surface of knock sensors.

Tightening torque 12 14 1AZ. Refer to ENGINE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Observe position of knock sensor in relation to engine block.

At angle of 20° to the perpendicular.

NOTE: Now clear the fault memory.
