Vane Pump (ZF): Assembly

- Coat new O-rings with hydraulic fluid prior to installation.
- Replace radial sealing ring (7), install with sealing lip facing inwards and fill space between sealing and dust lips with grease. See Fig 1.
- Guide shaft (5) into body. Insert rotor (4) with recess for circlip facing upwards and install circlip (6) in radial groove of shaft. See Fig 2.
- Install impeller with polished, rounded off outside surfaces facing cam ring. Check that impeller moves easily. See Fig 3.
- Place sealing ring (8), wide side facing downwards, and guide (9) in face plate (3). See Fig 4.
- Position face plate (3) on dowel pins. Replace O-ring (10). See Fig 5.
- Mount body, watching position of bores, and bolt on holder. See Fig 6. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install vane pump. On M52 and M54 engines see POWER STEERING VANE PUMP (M52/M54 ENGINE) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. On other engines, procedure is not available from manufacturer.
