Power Steering Test

  1. Open valve (B) and close valve (A). Start engine.
  2. Pull steering wheel against left lock with 22.5 Lbs. (100 N) force with special tool (64 1 100) for approximately 5 seconds and read off pressure. See Fig 1.
  3. Repeat with steering wheel against right lock. The steering gear must be replaced if the pressures are below the previously determined pump pressure.
  4. After removing special tool (32 4 000), replace sealing rings on hollow bolts and connect pressure line. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
