54 31 017 Removing and installing/replacing main mount for convertible top

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove convertible top . See 54 34 101 Removing And Installing Complete Convertible Top .

Only on right side:

Disconnect cable tie (1), release screw (2), if necessary raise convertible top (4) slightly and remove micro-switch (3) towards top.

Release pins (1 and 2) and remove.

Release screw (3).

Tightening torque, see 54 31 14AZ in SLIDE/TILT ROOF AND CONVERTIBLE TOP - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Unclip cover.

Mark position of screw heads (1).

Release screws and remove main mount.

Installation:

Fit thin spacer between bracket and frame.

Return screws to their original location, then tighten down screws.

Tightening torque, see 54 31 12AZ in SLIDE/TILT ROOF AND CONVERTIBLE TOP - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Replacement only:

Release screws (1) and remove spacers (2).
If necessary, release screw (3) and remove hardtop mounting (4).
