12 61 250 Removing and installing/replacing oil temperature switch (M52TU, M54, M56)

Switch off ignition.

Remove suction filter housing. See 13 71 000 REMOVE AND INSTALLING INTAKE FILTER HOUSING (M52TU, M54)

Unfasten oil filter cover to enable engine oil in filter to flow back into the oil sump.

Location: On base of oil-filter.

NOTE: Figure shows power steering pump supply tank removed.

Disconnect plug connection (1).

CAUTION: A few drops of oil escape when the oil temperature switch is released. Catch residual oil with cleaning cloth and dispose of oil.

Release oil temperature switch.
