12 62 500 Replacing coolant temperature sensor (DME)

Necessary Preliminary Tasks:
- Read out fault memory of DME control unit.
- Check stored fault messages.
- Switch off ignition.
- Remove intake filter housing. Refer to 13 71 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING INTAKE FILTER HOUSING .
- Drain coolant down to below height of thermostat housing. Refer to 17 00 005 DRAINING AND ADDING COOLANT .
- R50 Only: Remove battery housing. Refer to 61 21 100 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING BATTERY CONTAINER .
WARNING:
Danger of scalding! Only carry out work on the cooling system after the engine has cooled down!
Unlock plug (1) and remove.
Remove coolant temperature sensor (2).
Tightening torque, refer to 12 62 1AZ in ENGINE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES - COOPER (1.6L) R50/W10 .
Refill and vent cooling system.
NOTE:
Now clear the fault memory.
