11 40 000 Checking engine oil pressure

Special Tools Required: 

NOTE: To check engine oil pressure and oil pressure switch, install and connect special tools.

Unscrew oil filter cap; engine oil flows out of oil filter housing into oil sump.

If oil pressure is zero at idle, do not rev engine to 3000 rpm.

Installation: 

Replace sealing ring.

Tightening torque, refer to 11 42 1AZ in ENGINE - TIGHTENING TORQUES- COOPER (1.6L) R50/W10 .

Remove oil pressure switch.

Installation: 

Tightening torque, 12 61 1AZ in ENGINE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES - COOPER (1.6L) R50/W10 .

Install special tool 11 8 360 with sealing ring (1) in place of oil pressure switch.

Checking Engine Oil Pressure With DIS Tester 

Attach special tool 13 6 054 with sealing ring (1) and special tool 13 6 051 and connect to DIS Tester.

Checking Engine Oil Pressure With Pressure Measuring Instrument 

Fit special tools 13 3 063 and 13 3 061 (pressure measuring instrument).

Start engine and check engine oil pressure.

Refer to ENGINE - TECHNICAL DATA - COOPER (1.6L) R50/W10 .
