65 90 001 Calibrating wheels for navigation system 1 (up to 9/97, measured with distance travelled)

Check tire pressure. Drive vehicle onto a flat surface, e.g. a parking lot.

Unclip cover for towing lug. Insert special tool 00 9 280 together with 00 9 200 in the bore.

Mark initial point on the road. Acknowledge on the on-board monitor with START. Then drive straight ahead for 6 to 8 meters and stop.

Acknowledge end of journey on on-board monitor.

CAUTION: After stopping the vehicle, do not roll forwards or backwards.

Mark limit point and measure out distance covered. Tolerance < 1 cm. Enter the route distance reading on the on-board monitor. Then drive at least 100 meters in a straight line. An instruction is issued if the distance was too short or if too many steering wheel movements were required. On public roads, comply with the Highway Code of your country.
