Special tools required:

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 BMW 525i, 2002 BMW 525i, and 2001 BMW 525i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Removal of the windshield wiper arms is described separately for the driver's and passenger sides.

Driver's side: 

Remove cover.

CAUTION: Do not bend windshield wiper arm when removing it (risk of breakage!).

Release nut and remove windshield wiper arm.

Installation: 

Tightening torque. Refer to GENERAL ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUE .

If necessary, detach adjusting disk (1) with special tool 61 6 060.

Installation: 

Screw adjusting disk (1) together with wiper arm onto shaft.

Check contact angle to windshield with special tool 00 9 230.

If necessary, correct contact angle through displacement of wiper arm on adjusting disk.

Passenger side: 

Remove caps.

Unscrew nuts.

Installation: 

Tightening torque. Refer to GENERAL ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUE .

CAUTION: Do not bend windshield wiper arms when removing them (risk of breakage!).

Detach both wiper arms with special tool 61 6 060.
