51 22 200 Removing and installing / replacing outside handle and lock control on left or right rear door

Remove door trim panel, refer to 51 42 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR LEFT OR RIGHT DOOR TRIM PANEL .

Remove outside handle on rear door, refer to 51 22 170 REMOVING AND INSTALLING / REPLACING OUTSIDE HANDLE ON LEFT OR RIGHT BACK DOOR .

Partially pull off rear acoustic insulation and secure with adhesive tape.

Disconnect Bowden cable nipple (1) and Bowden cable core (2) from door lock

Only version up to 5/96:

Unscrew nuts (3). Remove lock control (4) (carrier for outside door handle).

Installation: 

Fit screws (1) with their straight surfaces facing.

Introduction: ongoing from 5/96:

Unfasten screws (1) and remove lock control (2) (carrier for outside door handle).

Only replace:

Unfasten clip (2) and disconnect Bowden cable (1) from lock control.
