Master Brake Cylinder: Removal

- Remove cover in luggage compartment and remove grounding strap from body.
- Suck the brake fluid out of expansion tank. Use a suction device used exclusively for drawing off brake fluid.
- Remove brake fluid expansion tank. See BRAKE EXPANSION TANK .
- Remove heater bulkhead. See HEATER BULKHEAD .
- Remove positive support point at partition wall on left.
- Unclip Bowden cable for engine hood locking.
- Pull wiring harness upwards out of partition wall. Unscrew nuts.
- Release screws. Remove rubber mount for windshield washer unit. Pull out partition wall.
- Disconnect all hydraulic lines from master cylinder. See Fig 1. Close off the brake lines and the master brake cylinder using appropriate seal plugs.
- Remove cover (1) from line aperture. Pull the vacuum hose (3) off of the brake unit. See Fig 2.
- Remove master cylinder-to-power booster nuts. Remove support and master cylinder.
- Replace O-ring. See Fig 3.
