Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 BMW Z8, 2002 BMW Z8, 2001 BMW Z8, and 2000 BMW Z8. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove screws and rear panel. See Fig 1 .
  2. Remove screws and front panel. See Fig 2 .
  3. Remove left and right stabilizer link-to-stabilizer bar lock nuts and discard nuts. See Fig 3 .
  4. Detach stabilizer links from stabilizer bar. See STABILIZER LINK (PUSH ROD)  .
  5. Remove stabilizer bar bracket bolts and remove stabilizer bar. See Fig 4 .
  6. Check rubber mount and replace if necessary. Ensure rubber mount, retaining bracket and stabilizer bar are free of grease.
  7. To install, reverse removal procedure. Wet retaining bracket with low-surface-tension water. Tighten fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
