Shock Absorber: Removal

On convertible models, remove shock absorber nuts located under plastic caps in the convertible top compartment. On Z3 Roadster, remove panel from convertible top compartment. On all other vehicles, remove trunk trim.
Raise and support vehicle. Using a jack, support trailing arm and unfasten screw (1). See Fig 1 .
If necessary, remove reinforcement plate. Pull off cap. Unscrew nuts and remove shock absorber. See Fig 2 .
