E60, E61, E63, E64, E87, E90, E91 - Controller

The controller is very easy to operate. The controller has a different design for each model series and depending on date of production launch.

Installation location 

The controller is the central control element for all the functions that can be viewed on the Central Information Display. The controller is set in the center console, where it is immediately accessible to the users (driver and front passenger).

Construction 

A key unit is located behind the Controller. In the E87/E90/E91, the key unit is integrated into the controller (E60, E61, E63, E64: key unit is a separate component).

The following 2 variants of the key unit exist:

3 A Earth for the key unit
4 E/A K-CAN High
5 E/A K-CAN Low
6 E Signal from menu button
7 E Signal from voice recognition system button (only with CCC incorporating voice recognition system)
8 A Terminal 58g for key unit
  A = Output
E = Input
E/A = Input and output
M = Earth
V = Supply

How it works 

The controller uploads the signals from the buttons. The controller transforms these signals into messages on the K-CAN. These messages are processed by the M-ASK or the CCC, as applicable.

The controller is slid in one of several directions from its home position, to which the controller always returns when released. The significant features of operation are:

The signal from terminal 58g for the buttons (locating lamp) is received by the controller via the K-CAN.
