Key Explanation Key Explanation
1 Exterior mirror adjustment 2 Slide switch, switches between exterior mirrors
3 Power window switch for front-passenger door 4 Power window switch for passenger-side rear door
5 Roller sunblind button for rear window 6 Child proof locks for rear power windows
7 Power window switch for driver-side rear door 8 Power window switch for driver's door
9 Button for folding exterior mirrors in/out

The driver's door switch block is the central control for the exterior mirrors. The power window and the roller sunblind (rear window) controls are also integrated.

> Up to 09/2005

The switch block in the driver's door is connected to the driver's door module (TMFA) via the LIN bus (LIN = Local Interconnect Network).

> From 09/2005

The switch block in the driver's door is connected to the body gateway module (KGM) via the LIN bus (LIN = Local Interconnect Network).

How it works

Pressing a button folds the mirrors in. Pressing the button again folds the exterior mirrors back out. With convenient closing, it is possible to code the exterior mirrors such that they fold in automatically. If the central locking is unlocked, the exterior mirrors then fold back out automatically. Using the button in the driver's door switch block to fold in the exterior mirrors suppresses the automatic folding out of the mirrors (e.g. when parking in a narrow garage).

Slide switch position

The automatic parking function is not available if the slide switch is set to the front-passenger door.
