DOOR MODULES: E60, E61, E63, E64 UP TO 09/2005
| Key | Explanation | Key | Explanation |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Screws for removing door module (illustration shows front-passenger door) | 2 | Important: Do not undo the screws The inner screws hold the housing together. The screws also secure the pressure sensor |
Construction
The door module is a combination of the following:
- Control unit for various functions of the body electronics, such as the front power windows or the exterior mirrors
- Satellite of the passive safety system ASE (ASE = Advanced Safety Electronics)
There is a pressure sensor in the driver's and front-passenger door module. The pressure sensor allows the ASE to trigger the side airbag as early as possible.
There are a total of 5 connections on the door module (example of the driver's door).

How it works
The door module is an interface to:
- Driver's door switch block via LIN bus or front-passenger power window switch
- Motors for vertical and horizontal adjustment of mirror glass
- Motor for folding mirrors in
- Mirror heating
- Safety and gateway module (SGM) via byteflight
The door module controls the following in addition to the exterior mirrors:
- Central locking, front
- Power windows, front
- Lighting for handle recess and stowage compartment in front doors
- Entry lighting, front
- Courtesy lighting (light conductor in exterior mirror)
- Side airbag (ASE satellite)
